Education Division, TECO-Boston, Celebrates Chinese New Year with Taiwanese Professionals in New England
Education Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Boston (TECO-Boston), invited visiting scholars from Taiwan and their families, Taiwanese-American professionals, and board members of the New England Association of Chinese Professionals to celebrate the Lunar New Year on February 4, 2017.
On behalf of the Ministry of Education (MOE), Republic of China (Taiwan) and TECO-Boston, Director Cynthia Huang of the Education Division welcomed visiting professors to conduct research in Boston and observe different ideas, and encouraged them to apply their findings in Taiwan. She also expressed appreciation to members of the New England Association of Chinese Professionals which organizes many activities throughout the year to bring the Taiwanese community together.
Scholar participants included Dr. Heui-Chu Chu and Dr. Chao-Lin Liu, both awarded by the “Top University Strategic Alliance” which is sponsored by MOE. Dr. Chih-Ting Lin from Taiwan University, Mr. Chia-Shin Hsu from Academia Sinica, and Dr. Hui-Chuan Chu from National University of Tainan also participated.
Boston is both a medical and biotech hub in the United States and attracts many professionals to study here from around the world. Dr. Yen-Hung Lin and Dr. I-Jung Tsai from Taiwan University Hospital, and Dr. Albert Yang from the Taipei Veterans General Hospital are conducting research at Massachusetts General Hospital. Dr. Yuh-Min Chen from National Cheng Kung University is currently a visiting scholar at the Longwood Medical and Academic Area.
This special event provides an opportunity for visiting scholars and local professionals to form friendships with each other and exchange opinions on research. The New England Association of Chinese Professionals has invited visiting scholars and professionals in New England to share their research and knowledge at the coming “Visiting Scholars and Elite Professionals Forum” in April.
